Studio Snap Shots

The lights at fourth & clay are burning brightly these days and nights as rae, Christa and I are working hard on getting work done for the holidays (more on this in coming posts). We are lucky to have two interns from Berkeley High School helping us 3 hours a week. YEAH! Becky and Kate! Here are some action shots.

P.S. Don't forget that the first Saturday of the month is our official day to be open(11-5). Come by and see what we're up to if you can. We might even have some leftover Halloween candy to share.

Ms. October

Our studio is humming with activity. Christa and I have been working away but are really missing rae who is off on her honeymoon. She will return shortly and we will be so happy to have her back. We have some great new work in the gallery. Here's a picture of our current window:

It seems like October should be renamed Christa Assad month! Check out the new issue of American Craft Magazine. Guess who is on the cover...none other than Ms Christa. Inside this issue are some wonderful photos and an excellent article written by fellow potter Molly Hatch. While I'm bragging about Christa check out AKAR. She will be featured in October. Pretty good beginning to the fall season.

AKAR Email

Dear Pottery Friends!

I am trying to whip together an email list for AKAR Gallery in Iowa City, where my work will be featured for the month of October. If you would like to join their email list (I'm sure many of you are already on it!) then please either:

email them directly at: gallery@akardesign.com
or go to: www.AKARdesign.com
and add yourself to their mailing list!

Thanks for helping out - if you aren't familiar with AKAR, it is definitely worth having a looksie at their site - it ROCKS!

BTS - Back to Studio

Summer's almost over and as fun as it was we are all looking forward to getting back to work at fourth and clay. It kind of feels of the first day of school... happy to be back with friends, full of anticipation and hopes for the year ahead. The gallery will be open and Christa will be there next Saturday (Sept 6) so if you're in the area please be sure to stop by, say hi and check out our work.

Here is a glimpse of the workshop Christa gave at Anderson Ranch this summer (see more pictures here). You can also check out rae's and Josie's excellent summers here and here.

Summer at fourth & clay

rae's work at the ACGA show

Josie and rae survived the ACGA Show. It was well attended and the weather behaved beautifully. Thank you all who attended and supported us. Christa has returned from her exotic pottery adventure in Greece. She had a wonderful time.

Summer's are crazy at fourth & clay. We are coming and going. Christa will be teaching a workshop at Anderson Ranch Aug 4 -15. rae is preparing for a huge event that we are all very excited about. Josie is working at her studio in the mountains for the rest of the summer. She's making clay with the squirrels and bears as her crtitics.

Our gallery will be open when we are there working. You can tell as the big roll up door will be up and our sign will be out. Just come on in. We will be happy to see you.

Have a great summer -
rae, Josie and Christa

Clay and Glass Festival

This Saturday is day one of the weekend long ACGA Clay and Glass Festival in Palo Alto. It's a huge show featuring 180 of the best ceramics and glass artists in California. We are proud to be members. We have been busily making tons of new work, it looks like it's going to be sunny and you will be dazzled by all the great stuff there is to see. If you are in the area please come visit us (Christa isn't participating this year as she is going off on an exotic pottery adventure in Greece).
Hope to see you there.
